 Top News

Congratulations to the 2021 CALPHO Board!
October 16 saw the election of new officers and directors at large:
  • President, Meagan Hillman – Prowers and Kiowa County Public Health
  • President elect, Jobeth Mills – Lincoln County Public Health
  • Treasurer, Danica Lee – Denver Department of Public Health and Environment
Directors at Large
  • Rural/Frontier, Kari Ladrow - Moffat County Public Health
  • Urban, Margaret Huffman – Jefferson County Public Health
These folks join these existing board members finishing their terms
  • Past president, Liane Jollon – San Juan Basin Public Health
  • Secretary, Joni Reynolds – Gunnison County Public Health
Directors at Large
  • Rural/Frontier: Trish McClain – Northeast, Andrea Carlstrom – Chaffee, Bobbi Lock – Montezuma County Public Health
  • Urban, Randy Evetts – Pueblo County Public Health
With the new come some goodbyes. Yvonne Long will rotate off the board having concluded her term as past president. Jason Vahling announced his resignation from the position as president this week. Becky Joyce from San Juan County and Avie Strand representing Larimer are the departing Directors at Large.

We all appreciate the dedication and service of those joining and those leaving the board. Thank you all so very much for your investment in CALPHO and public health.

De Beaumont Poll Shows Growing Bipartisan Support & Awareness of Public Health
Conducted this past July, this poll reveals some encouraging stats and trends. The best news might be that 7 in 10 respondents agreed that LPHAs are important to creating a healthy community, up from 5 in 10 in their 2018 poll. Sharing these results is a critical tactic for countering public health’s very-loud-but in-the-minority detractors and building trust for pandemic messaging. You’ll find many sharable snippets on this page, as well as a comprehensive infographic.
